LAUNDRY ROOM RE-VAMP

Laundry rooms can be a bit challenging to keep clean and organized especially if you have a small space like I do.
Our laundry room is currently in a large closet. I find myself putting everything in here before friends and family come over & shutting the doors. It's a horrible habit!
I noticed myself keeping extra items in here and not sorting anything. It was a hot spot for random junk I was too lazy to organize or throw out.

As a 2017 goal, I wanted to get more organized & help others get more organized.
I decided I would start this blog and start showing my before and after pictures to help others get motivated!
Here is a before and after shot of my laundry room.

Here are the simple steps on how I achieved this clean organized look.
1. TAKE EVERYTHING OUT

This is such a crucial step to getting organized. I find when I take everything out and start fresh it forces me to sort through all of the items.

2. SORT YOUR ITEMS

I have two simple piles every time I organize. A keep pile & a garbage pile.
Some things to think about when sorting;
Do I love this item? Does this item really need to be here, or can it be stored somewhere else? Have I used this item in the last 6 months? (If no, throw out!)

3. CLEAN & PLAN

After I have sorted my items I do a deep clean of the space. It feels so much better when you know it's a clean slate! I also start planning out how I want to store items, is there a specific decor style I want to go with etc. I love finding inspiration on Pintrest!

4. START ORGANIZING

Now for the fun part! Once I have an idea of storage bins and decor I start putting my items in there new place. I LOVE baskets and find they keep me SO organized.

HOW I ORGANIZED MY LAUNDRY ROOM

Top Shelf - Toilet paper, Extra Sheets & Extra bedspreads
Middle Shelf - Towels, a container from The Superstore that holds my dryer sheets, a glass jar that holds my Tide Pods & another basket that holds extra laundry soap and other essentials.
Bottom Racks - I have a small basket that holds all my single socks & on the other side I have a small cup that I use to put hair elastics, change etc. Pretty much anything I find in pockets. I also have a cute mason jar from Target that I keep seashells in. Just for decor!
The whale is also just for decor. Fun fact, the whale was never supposed to be here! I ran out of room on my other walls and felt it did not match my decor any longer. Instead of getting rid of it, I thought id use it as decor!
